Type 2 Diabetes Trial

Are you moderately overweight?

The Centre for Obesity Research and Education, Baker IDI and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute are conducting a randomised study measuring the effects of weight loss on overweight people with type 2 diabetes.

We are looking for people to take part in this study.

You will need to:

  • be between 18 - 60 years of age
  • have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of between 25 - 30 (you can use the BMI calculator on this website)
  • have had type 2 diabetes for no more than 5 years
  • be willing to be randomly allocated to either Lap-Band surgery OR best possible diabetes care (no surgery)

This trial will help us improve Type 2 diabetes treatment by clarifying the importance of weight loss in people who are only moderately overweight.
